"The disk is not formatted" on accessing KIngston USB Pen Drive?

I have a Kingston Datatraveller 2 GB pen drive. I used it a couple of days before in a cyber cafe and since then it is not responding well. Whenever I click the pendrive icon ( my G drive) an error message appears " The disk is not formatted do you want to formatt it". My data is very importnat an I do not want to format it. I tried to use an antivirus but unfortunately none of the anti virus applications are recognising the pen drive saying that "the file system is not recognised". Is there a freeware software that I could use and recover all of my data before formatting the pen drive. Also the space as shown in my computer is 0 bytes, even though I have saved around 1.5 GB of the data. Can anybody help me??

You probably did not eject the pen drive properly at the cyber cafe. Either that, or the computer at the cyber cafe had a virus which corrupted your pen drive. You will have to reformat it to make it usable. Or you can try following Warrior B's advice.
