Basic standard PC software?

I just want to know which programs I should install one by one after installing XP.I mean anti virus, firewall etc etc.

but if you want to do it one by one i suggest you install firewall first it's you first line of defense and then anti virus and anti spyware

OK firstly, install XP with the internet cable disconnected. then install SP2, then anti virus, now you can connect to the web and ensure you have the latest dat files for your anti virus package. now install your firewall and any other apps and you should be good to go and virus free.....dont forget some antispyware stuff too!
First? any drivers for the devices u may have that Windows does not reconize (video card, chipset drivers, sound card, network adapter), after that create your internet connection (available only for PPPoE type), install security programs (antivirus, anti-spyware), after that...do your tasks (messenger, internet browser, codecs) and last but not least GAMES! ;) Good Luck
When you have installed windows before installing any programes you should install your motherboard drivers for graphics sound etc etc. then any programes you want after that doesn't really matter what you put on as long as it's programes you reall want.
