Yes you can un-install at any time, you don't have to wait until it expires if you want to. If you want to eliminate some entries that might be in your system then use a registry cleaner like Tune Up Utilities (30 days free trial).

Good Luck

You're right, Norton is quite a memory hog.

To make sure, you can always use the Norton Uninstaller: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsg...

The only security program you need to run if you are smart about what you click on and use a router (all routers these days are also firewalls) is a software firewall, to block random attacks and outbound connections. A VERY good free firewall is ZoneAlarm free edition (http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/c... , click the link on the right), although some people prefer Comodo (http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ ).

If you feel that you still need to run Anti-Spyware, SuperAntiSpyware combines removal lists from many other free AV programs and I have found it to be the best. (http://www.superantispyware.com/download... Scanners never catch everything though, and make sure to remove it from startup programs so it only wastes memory when you want it to.

One more thing you can do is remove startup items by typing 'msconfig' into the run command on the start menu. Uncheck unneeded startup items.
