Can anyone help me install my new printer?

I have just bought a Canon iP2200 printer. I need SIMPLE step by step instructions to help me install the software (I have a PC). The booklet tells me that I should 'disable' any anti-virus programs first but I wouldn't know how! I'm not stupid but computers aren't my strong point! Thanks for any help.

do not plug in your printer before told to do so by the set up program. canon printers are funny like that.

first things first if you are going to disable the antivirus on your computer you need to make sure your computer is not connected to the internet. so for best results open my network connection places if on your desktop as an icon, then click on network connections, now on each one click disable, remember to leave that window open for the time being.

now find the antivirus program icon normally next to the clock on the windows task bar (bottom right as default).

now open the program and find the disable option. not knowing what program you are using for antivirus it is difficult to be 100% accurate here.

now the antivirus is disabled you can insert the driver CD that came with your printer. (pressuming you know how your CD drive works).

the program should auto run, just follow the prompts in the program. it will tell you what to do step by step.
