I often run the following programs simultaneously...Outlook, Enterprise Manager (and QA), Visual Studio 2005, Photoshop CS3, Trillian Astra, Firefox and IE and of course anti-virus/anti-spyware software. Currently my Centrino Duo T2300 @ 1.66 (1GB Ram) won't let me install Photoshop CS3 (it freezes up) and Visual Studio is sluggish as well. Also, what OS should I go with? Budget is $1000.
Which (laptop) processor is better for web programming?photoshop
I would go for HP w/ AMD X2 Processer (the best you can afford).
I would recommend Windows XP. You need it to run VS 2005, ect.
Hope this helps.

I'd recommend that you double your ram on your current laptop instead of buying a new one. CS3 will run on your current laptop with more ram. If you still want to purchase a new laptop, I'd go with a Dell Vostro 1500 or an HP DV6000 series (Intel proc) with a 2.2 GHz minimum and 2 GB. With the HP, you will be forced onto Vista (which is alright in my opinion) and with the Dell Vostro, you will have the choice.
With CS3, a 64bit OS can be utilized so consider that while deciding on your purchase. If you do decide to bite the bullet, I'd recommend 4Gb of ram to go along with that 64bit OS.
