If Kaspersky antivirus doesn't resolve your problem maybe you should uninstall it and install a different antivirus program. If you still want to keep Kaspersky , you can use online scanners.

Here you have more information on computer viruses:

Virus related problem?norton 2008

I've had a PC that my step son used and filled with viruses and trojans. Among other things they damaged the Windows install... all sorts of functionality was deleted by the viruses and didn't come back on clean up.

I decided the best thing to do with it was to save the data and rebuild operating system from scratch. It was win98, so there was no option to 'repair' - but the messing up was so deep that repair would have struggled.

So I advise... rebuild your PC from the install disks, install an AV, install all your applications, put your data back and carry on.

Free Softwares on the web - is it for real?

There are many FREE software like anti-virus, anti-spy, etc.

If it's FREE, will people still spend money to buy?

I'm puzzled !

What's your opinion?

Free Softwares on the web - is it for real?mcaffee

Lots of freeware out there.

Some not worth the price.

But the Zonealarm firewall that free is the same as the one they box and sell, accept the onealarm pro has more additional features.

AVG was free...but next year theyll start charging.

The big thing about freeware, is that there hope is to either gain your interest with a basic service that has additions to it, or just give a good product like AVG until they have enough followers that believe in their product having used it, enough to want to buy it eventually.

Its all long term business. Either the programmers are trying to make a nme for themselves, or the company will hope to sell off their program eventually

but yes, to answer your question some freeware is very good.

Slow running PC?

Ever since my norton internet security software expired I decided to try the free AVG anti-virus and anti-spyware software instead. But my laptop has been running very slow - has the new software affected it? I have had a good disk clean up and have defragmented the computer but still it's running slower than before - please help! Many thanks.

Slow running PC?microsoft office

It's unlikely that AVG is the cause but if you want to test it, try uninstalling it (disconnect from the internet first) and play around and see if there's a difference.

One thing to check... did you uninstall Norton first? If not this could be a problem as different anti virus programs often conflict with each other.

Slow running PC?norton antivirus

Hi, i had the same problem but with my normal PC, in the end my son took everything off, defragmented it, and it would still run slow.

Then we put in more memory and it has been working fine ever since.

Have you put any thing else on your PC, my son also put on a different spywear %26 anti virus which was free.

He just looked it up in google.com, and downloaded it for me.
A lot of the new programs we download require far more memory than the other programs. Keeps us constantly upgrading or buying new.
the problem isavg downloads itself every day as soon as the pc is switched on causing problems get back to norton
use norton antivirus corporate edition if o/s is win98 use 8 or 9 ver of norton corporate edition and if you use windows xp use ver 10 its use minimum disk space.
the free software is worst than norton anti-virus crap because now your computer is even more vulnerable, if you want your computer to keep running fast, fork up the $50 to get some quality software..
Its eating up your RAM / system resourses. This happened to me after installing McAfee. Any "good" anti-virus/firewall program will do this, as it is always running and always protecting. I upgraded my RAM, and things run-open-startup-shutdown at a bearable speed.
Go to AVG options and switch OFF scan-on start up. This will prevent AVG scanning the computer for viruses when booting up.

If its still slow open up task manager with the computer fired up and see what is using the most processor power.
Not AVG. AVG does not do that. Its the best, lightest anti virus software around.

Try the following:

1. Check if Norton was uninstalled.

2. In AVG settings, see if you have created any settings that require repeated scans on each access of a file etc.

3. Clear the temporary files and temporary internet files.

4. Remove all programs that you do not use.

Help! My computer can't connect to the Internet?

Just now i've downloaded some songs and music videos. After that, i couldn't visit any websites. Suspecting that my computer has been infected by a virus, i used another computer which connects to the same router and it could connect to the internet without any problems. I've scanned my computer with anti-virus and anti-spyware software but nothing is detected. What's the problem actually? Is it because of a virus attack? Should i reformat my pc? Thanks for your attention.

netsh winsock reset
make format to your computer
try unplugging ur internet/router then restart ur router and ur computer. Might just need a refresh
It could be that your ethernet card has shorted out, not uncommon. IT could also be that you have disconnected from your router.

try downloading Spybot Search and destroy if your Spyware Doctor won't kill it.

Also try CTRL ALT DEL and look to see what processes are running so you know what file still needs to be deleted. You can google the process names if you don't know which ones are supposed to be there and which ones are the problems

hmmm this is a tough one somewhat.....there is really only one way to COMPLETELY erase your hard drive and that is to get a NEW ONE. Depending on this size you can probably get one for fairly cheap if you know the right stores. if you dont play games I would recommend like 40g or above but if you play games like me I have a 160g hard drive. If you still have the system restore disk that is the only other way to erase it. Put the system restore disk in the computer. Shut down the computer. Turn on the computer. And follow the steps. hm...r you the administrator of the computer? if your not, administrator could forbid you to download...

Or maybe the link to the download button is broken.

I don't think virus program would interfere with downloading...If this error recently appeared.
Same with mine, I posted a similiar questions a little while ago! Try to scan your comp let me know if you are successful!!
