Can a virus/keyloger stay in my computoer if i reformat?

my comp does not had recovery disc's only internal recovery system ie alt + ctrl and hold f10 brings up a reformat option.. i have done this completly gone back to factory basics and ther still seems to be a keyloger or something on my computer its trying to stop me from downloadin anti virus' and other programs that will help me identify it... i really need answers on this as its stressing me .. Ive been told that they can only stay in software but as ive cleared everything... how can it be ther still...??????? Please help me and yeh Im female so explain how this has accured...

Most of the best computer experts in the world are women...



If you are formattng a system properly and still find yourself infected .. then most likely whatever you are reinstalling after the format contains the malware.



I suggest you invest in a proper security suite (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) preferably from one reliable vendor (like McAfee Total Protection or Norton 360) and ensure it is properly configured and completely up to date and kept that way.



You should order it this way... format the drive, reinstall windows, install security, update it, install all windows updates.. rebooting as necessary. THEN worry about putting your files back on and surfing the web.
