Zone alarm is slowing down my computer. Is it normal?

Some months ago, I bought, intalled then disinstalled Zone Alarm because it slows down so much my computer. Now, fearing viruses, I re-installed it again. What a pain? Everything takes ages before popping-up. Is it normal to get slow down with anti-virus, firewall and other protective software? Is Zone Alarm worst than McAfee and Norton for that matter? (slowwww)

Zone alarm is slowing down my computer. Is it normal?best antivirus software

is is only zonealarm (firewall), or the zonealarm security suite? i have zonealarm (firewall), installed on every comp in my household (2 desktops, 2 laptops), and on most computers that i work on (friends/family), and have never had a problem with it at all. i've had norton security suite (with a brand new comp), and it took forever for the parental controls, etc. to load before i could connect to the internet.

could it be possible that you don't have enough ram?, how much stuff do you have on startup (on the taskbar by the clock)? how much ram do you have?

"Is it normal to get slow down with anti-virus, firewall and other protective software?" %26lt;-- yes, the more stuff that you have running (ie., messengers, music players, etc., etc.), the slower your system is going to be (especailly, if you are low on ram).

hit "ctl+alt+del", and on the "processes tab", at the bottom, how many processes do you have running, and your "cpu usage"? g/l, sos
