Did I make a mistake...bought a laptop with 64 bit Vista?

I quickly learned that I may have made a mistake in my recent purchase of an HP laptop. Apparently, most software currently out, like anti-virus programs, do not support 64 bit Vista. I also may not be able to run older programs and most drivers are not 64 bit compatible either.

Should I return the laptop and get one with 32 bit? I wanted this computer to be decent so that in 5 years it is not obsolete. However, I do not want to be limited because my computer is ahead of everyone else.

How fast is 64 bit catching up? Will it be another 5 years or so where the norm is 32 bit? I can still return the laptop if necessary.

No need for an expensive car if it's not street legal!!!!!!

64 bit is fine

those incompatibility rumors are just hyped up.

sure, there will be programs that don't support 64 bit, but those are usually specialized programs that many people have never heard about.

plus, with a 64 bit OS,. you get to use 4 or more GB of ram.

1. If it's any comfort, most viruses aren't compatible with 64-bit Vista yet, for the same reason as the anti-viruses are having trouble. A few anti-viruses do support 64-bit Vista.
