How do I downgrade from Vista to XP?

I bought a laptop yesterday and I'm about ready to throw it out the window...speaking of window (segway), Windows Vista SUCKS!!!! It hasn't crashed on me or anything but it is REALLY slow. I knew Vista had a lot of problems and slowness so I bought two 1GB cards to boost the speed...it hasn't helped. My internet is slow, my applications open up slow, it's just slow and it sucks!!

So how do I downgrade (upgrade rather) to XP? My laptop is new so I don't have any programs on it at all. The only thing i've installed is my laptop internet card software and Computer Associates Anti Virus and that's it. So I'm not worried about losing anything. I just want XP. i called the store i bought my laptop from and according to them, it's a pretty hairy process because "it's not that simple." They want me to bring it in, charge me $200 to install it and give me my laptop back in 3 to 5 days...I do NOT want to do that.

you cant downgrade from vista to xp. you need to format and do a fresh install of windows xp. Format using the windows xp disc. And your laptop is probably slow because the processor and video card only just meet the requirements.. thats what all shops are doing. some laptops arnt even vista capable really and they're selling them for $800+
