What's a good antivirus to use other than Norton?

I've been using Norton for about 18 months now and I've had 2 virus infections that Norton wasn't able to get rid off. I don't remember how i got rid of the 1st one, but about 2 month's ago I got some virus that Norton pops a "Virus Alert" for [Backdoor.IRC.Aladinz.R] but can't get rid off. I tried removing the virus following the instructions on their site but nothing!

I'm thinking of just reinstalling windows and deleting everything.

Anyway, Norton subscription already expried a couple of weeks ago and I don't plan to renew it or reinstall it. The anti-virus that came w/ Yahoo! DSL didn't work for anything either, it just give virus warnings/alerts but can't remove...

soooo...

do you have any suggestions for any good virus protection and removal software out there? any positive experiences w/ certain antiviruses out there?

Best I found is Panda. They also give a free trial to try it out first.

go to pc world.com website use their search engine and find their test results for almost all of the major anti virus providers. It's a pretty good guide line

I have a program called AVG. It is free, but really good. I got it off the Internet
AVG free is good ask's what you want to do w/virus. heal, delete or move to vault .
