How can i stop getting the blue screen of death when i play the sims 2?

I have the windows xp operating system. It has 2Gb of memory, my graphics card is the Nvidia 8400 with 512MB on the card. I updated the driver. I have direct x 9.0. I have the SIms 2 game, and all of the expansion packs and stuff pack with the execption of the teen style. I close down all of my background tasks before i play, and i shut down my anti virus and anti spyware software, but i still keep getting that blue screen. Can someone please tell me what i need to do to not get that screen. OR, is there something wrong with my computer.
